Activities and territory
The region offers countless possibilities for recreation: those seeking rest will find green and tranquillity, as well as a mild and slightly stimulating climate.
Those wishing to spend an active holiday will find a region particularly suited to excursions of all kinds, and the best facilities for practising their favourite sport.
Upper Malcantone is also a region rich in art and culture; a simple trip around its villages will confirm the wealth of its architectural heritage.
The Region: Alto Malcantone
The Malcantone valleys are surrounded by panoramic peaks and crystal-clear streams. The region, with 20 villages at different altitudes (from 270 m at lake level to 1600 m at the top of Monte Lema) offers a variety of landscapes: rivers, streams, flat open spaces, hills and mountains. These factors together with the warm climate make Malcantone an ideal place to spend a holiday.
The area also has much to offer in terms of art and culture (S. Ambrogio church in Cademario, S. Stefano church in Miglieglia with Roman bell towers and 12th and 13th century frescoes). There is also an ethnographic museum in Curio, a chocolate and fish museum in Caslano and a miner's museum in Miglieglia.
Excursions, Hiking and Biking
For hiking enthusiasts
The area offers wonderful day trips. Walks along the chestnut trail, which passes directly in front of the hotel, will take you into the vast forests where you can discover local and characteristic nature at its best.
There are also walks across the mountains between Monte Lema and Monte Tamaro.
For biking enthusiasts
Ticino offers a wide variety of cycle paths for both traditional and mountain bikes, with downhill routes and the possibility of trying out timed routes.
We also have a locked bicycle shed in the hotel garden and bicycle washing facilities are available.
Events
The Lugano region hosts numerous events throughout the year that satisfy a wide range of tastes. The winter season is characterised by performances and concerts in local theatres and halls, while from spring to autumn the fun is outdoors.
In summer, the streets, squares and public parks transform the city into an intense meeting place for artists, audiences and culture lovers. The programme is always full of concerts, music for all tastes, literature, entertainment, theatre, dance, cinema, children's shows and urban art installations.
